Companion App
Revamp the companion app to bring it closer to the console experience.

As designers for the console experience, we teamed up with the Companion App XD team to completely revamp the mobile experience.
This project was meant to bridge the gap between the console and mobile experiences. I was responsible for redesigning the Home and Store sections, focusing on making the app feel like a seamless, high-fidelity extension of the game that keeps players connected to the app in a fresh and attractive way.

Console Experience in Your Pocket
The main challenge was to capture the premium look and feel of the console interface while keeping the mobile experience fast and functional.
I overhauled the Home screen to prioritize the most exciting content, using the same bold typography and lighting effects that define the core FC brand.
For the Store, I focused on creating a more shoppable and premium interface, making the item displays feel just as prestigious and easy to find and navigate as they do on console.
I reorganized the information architecture for the Home and Store sections, stripping away the clutter to ensure the most important content was front and center.
By aligning the color palettes and UI elements, I ensured the app felt like a high-end companion rather than a secondary tool.

Challenges
Screen size
The biggest challenge was fitting the deep, data-heavy information of the Home and Store sections onto a much smaller canvas without it feeling cluttered or overwhelming.
Responsive Scalability
A major challenge was ensuring the new Home and Store sections worked seamlessly on both the Mobile App and Web. I had to create a flexible grid that felt premium on a wide desktop monitor but stayed clean and easy to navigate on a small phone screen.
Information Hierarchy
On console, you have the luxury of space. For the app, I had to prioritize, deciding exactly which bits of player data and store offers were vital for the experience.
Touch vs. Controller
We had to rethink the entire navigation. What works with a thumbstick doesn't always work with a thumb tap, so I focused on creating larger, more intuitive "hit zones" and a vertical flow that felt natural for one-handed use.
Prototype
To test these concepts, I built high-fidelity prototypes specifically for UXR. These allowed us to validate the new information hierarchy and navigation flow with real players, ensuring the app felt intuitive and premium before moving into full production.

Impact
By aligning the app’s visual identity with the core game, we created a much more cohesive ecosystem for our players.
The revamp made the Companion App feel like a true "Ultimate Team" product, strengthening the player's connection to the game regardless of the device.
The more attractive, console-like visuals made the Home and Store sections much more inviting, making the daily club management experience feel more rewarding.
